GA-P67A-UD3 RAID Issues

Hey all,

My OCZ Vertex 30GB appears to have bitten the dust, so I replaced it with an Intel X-25M 80GB. I had some problems getting Windows to install when my mobo (GA-P67A-UD3) was set to RAID in the BIOS (I have two 1TB HDDs in RAID1), so I switched to IDE and managed to install Windows 7 no problem. After installing Windows I was able to switch it to AHCI and everything works fine when AHCI is on.

However, I'm having a rather strange issue if I try to switch the system to RAID in the BIOS. If I set it to RAID, the system won't boot. Instead, when booting up, it'll load the AHCI BIOS, stating that the X-25M is being controlled by the RAID BIOS. Then when the RAID BIOS pops up, the X-25M doesn't appear at all - with the Vertex 30GB, it used to appear as a non-RAID disk alongside the two 1TBs that are in a RAID1 array. After this screen, it fails to boot, I assume because it's trying to boot from the RAID1 array that doesn't have Windows on it. Is there something I'm doing wrong here? If I enter the RAID Console it still doesn't list the X-25M.

If I set it to AHCI, Windows shows that I have two drives - the X-25M and a 1TB drive. The 1TB drive is listed under hardware as "Volume_0000," which is what I had named it during the previous install of Windows. All my files are still there, and I can read/write to it no problem. Intel RST shows the X-25M and the two 1TBs listed, but Disk Management only shows the X-25M and another 1TB (which I assume is "Volume_0000"). My question, I guess, is: is Windows still considering the drives to be in RAID1 somehow? If not, how can I get the other 1TB to show up?

So...I guess that, in summary, my questions are:

1. Why won't my X-25M show up as a non-raid disk in the RAID BIOS like the old Vertex 30GB used to, and how can I get it to show up?
2. Are my two 1TBs still being seen by Windows as a RAID1 array, and if not, how can I get my second 1TB back?

Thanks in advance for any help!

If you install your operating system in IDE or AHCI mode, but will use that same hard drive (where you install the operating system) for RAID mode. Then you will need to configure it in the RAID BIOS, and you will need to reinstall the operating system.

Right, that I know...but I don't want to use the X-25M as a RAID disk. I just need RAID for my 1TB drives. The problem is that when I set the system to RAID in the BIOS, the RAID BIOS doesn't detect the X-25M, so Windows won't ever load (as it's not on the RAID1 array).

I did try to install Windows while the system was set to RAID, but it wouldn't work - the same thing happened and the RAID BIOS didn't detect the X-25M.
