Has anyone had a problem with their PCI-E slot going haywire?

I pulled my video card to clean up my cables, put it back and no video. SO, I started swapping cables and monitors.. still nothing.

I swapped in a 7900 GS card that I have sitting around.. same thing. Nothing.

I put the 8800GTS back in... still.. nothing. I wiggle it around and BAM, I get video, however when I restarted the system there was nothing.

Sounds like a screwy PCIE slot.. any ideas?

sounds like you are not properly aligning the card to the slot....

Look at the head area that goes out the rear of the case, and make sure that it is square, and true... they get bent quite easy... also once you get the card in the right place nail it down....

you were probably just not seating the cards right, or there is some kind of mechanical interference that is not allowing it to seat right.

Hi and thanks,

I know what you mean, I had that issue when I first picked up my 8800, but the card is seated, clipped into the back of the slot and screwed down to the case as was the 7900 GS card.

Both video cards have tested out fine in my other system....
