GA-P35-DS3P Vs IP35 Pro Vs P5K Premium

I do plan on using RAID. I don't plan on using wireless LAN (my system is plugged directly into the router). I'm thinking E6850, air cooled (any notes on HSF mounting issues appreciated). I realize there is a price jump up to the Premium, but it sounds like it's getting a warm welcome.

I've never built before, so I'm not sure what would be the best way to make the decision between these three. I've heard the grumblings Gigabyte might drop support for its P35 once X38 arrives, and that concerns me. The IP35 Pro doesn't have the double posting issues and seems solid. The Asus has to have a reason for the price other than just name, right?

Thanks in advance.

I've heard great things about all 3. I would look more at price on those b/c there is a fairly large price gap between each board (ds3 is 25 less than ip35 pro which is 50 less than p5k premium). I got the ip 35 pro b/c I couldn't justify the added expense of the 230 asus or dq6 mobo, but I wanted something that would oc like a champ. Unfortunately, I can't boot or even get it to attempt to post over 468, but that's ok right now since I can't get my e6750 stable above 8x463 anyway. I am worried about dropping in a penryn with a 1600 fsb, however, since without some sort of update I will be severely limited in my ability to oc that type of chip.

Surely there must be more people out there ready to share their problems with one of these boards or applaud their satisfaction.

I got my IP35 Pro to post at 500FSB but wasn't stable in windows.

you'll probably have to do more voltage than you think to get there.

I've been happy with my GA-P35-DS3P purchase. Not maxxing it out or anything and stability with a little OC was my original goal in purchasing.

My e6600 runs cool and stable at 3ghz at stock voltages. I have some good OCZ RAM {I forget the flavor - the SLI stuff} and at that FSB and 1:1 the RAM timings are 4-5-5-13.

One other factor for me was a TI firewire chipset for my MOTU 828mkII audio and the gigabyte had that and I'm happy with the latency on that whole set up.
