My network port on the GA-P35-DS3L model has stopped working overnight. The lights are off. It doesnt show in the device manager (not even a network adapters option on the menu). IPCONFIG just opens a dos window then closes it in 1sec.

I have tried different cables.

Anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to do diagnostics or try another driver or something??? I dont wanna just go n buy a new card without trying to fix it first. Im also ready to punch a wall

Im running:
Win XP SP3
BIOS F7
Core 2 Duo E8400
Nvidia 8800GT
4Gb RAM

Many thanks to anyone who can help out..

I believe Gigabyte boards (and many others') have some sort of diagnostic tool for network functionality in BIOS. Enter BIOS by hitting 'Delete' key upon booting, and go to 'Peripherals' or 'Integrated stuff' section and you might find a 'LAN diagnostic' (or 'Smart LAN', 'Green LAN', etc.) tool.

Yea, there is the 'Smart LAN' menu item, but it is a blank screen when i go into it - obviously doesnt recognise that theres any adapter in there... any other thoughts?

Try new BIOS? That and make sure you've ruled out the router/modem and the cable. If everything else works fine but the board doesn't receive network signal then yeah I guess the port is dead.

Unplug pc , let it sit for a minute then plug in and try again.
If the port doesn't work then even if you change out cables, it is defective.

I have the same motherboard with dead onboard NIC. Same situation, one minute it worked the next it didn't. Had to purchase a new NIC.

I have a GA-P35-DS3R board and I recently had the same problem after upgrading my video card. I Googled it and it appears that a fair number of people experienced this issue with Gigabyte P35/P45 boards. In my case it was probably the swapping around of my SATA cables to make room for the new video card that triggered the problem. Clearing the CMOS has resolved the problem for some people. I did not try that, as my CMOS battery is now covered by the video card. I just slapped in a PCI ethernet card that I had hanging around. When I'm off over the holidays I should have some time to work on it.

What BudgetBuild said... If you google around, there are tons of people with the DS3L specifically, and gigabyte P35 boards generally that had the gigabit ports die. I had to buy a separate NIC which has worked just fine except I would like that slot back :)
