Question ga-ma785GM-US2H how to upgrade to 16GB?

It runs 8GB ram fine but with 16GB the display driver hangs up.

Could the BIOS need upgrading from F11?

Could be an issue with the memory not on the QVL. You can try with the 12f bios but it is beta.
Yeah, seems like that bios is addressing storage/SATA updates.

I would increase the ram voltage for starters. Then play with timings and frequency if needed.

Thanks for the reply. What does QVL mean? I tried upgrading the BIOS to 12f but it did not change anything.
I then tried a registry fix by following this advice and it possibly fixed the problem (not sure yet):
Increase the GPU Processing Time by adjusting the Timeout Detection and Recovery registry value

Hmm, I might try messing with the ram voltage, timing and frequency too -- thanks for the idea -- after the already applied changes have been evaluated.

At this point in time, I would use the DRAM calculator predictions as a guide only. Nothing wrong with applying what it suggests, but don't expect miracles & start with safe settings first.
