Hello all, I am new to the forums but I figured I would make a thread about this motherboard because I searched and I couldnt find one already in existance.

First off, I am very unhappy with the board, because of one feature. I bought the board because it flaunted all of its "overclocking capabilitys" and even the reviews on newegg said it was great for overclocking. But for whatever reason, Gigabyte left out the PCI mhz lock feature from the BIOS so instead of staying at 33.3mhz it goes up with the FSB which effectivly means I cant overclock. I emailed gigabyte about making a new BIOS but got a negative response.

Other than that, the install was a breeze. Physically, it fit into the case fine. The pocessor, ram, everything fit in fine.

POST first try, easy RAID controller, and a CD that makes windows drivers a breeze. The BIOS is a little different, but easy to work with. Mobo is very stable, and even if I mess up a setting where it wont post, no cmos clear! It fixes itself to last known good state. Havnt tried SLI yet, works fine with one PCIe card. Get 1.8v memory too. Great motherboard for someone not looking to overclock.

Maybe someone else can add some feedback. Thanks.

🙁 I bought this motherboard because a couple of reviews said it had decent overclocking capabilities. After I get it up and running I find out that there is no lock for the pci bus in the bios. I can't believe that Gigabyte would not put that option in the bios. As I like to overclock, I would not buy this motherboard again.

I got this board as part of a combo deal in order to get the AM2 4600 Windsor at a lower price. I shouldn't comlain too much but you would think that a maker like Gigabyte that likes to say they are good for overclockers would have put in a pci lock. I guess nothing left to do but save up and get another DFI board like I had for my s939 system.

my experience is the same as everyone else :| i posted this over on pc perspective but will say the same here. i would add that the m55 series owners contacted gigabyte about getting a bios update to fix the pci lock issue and also got a negative response. they then contacted some folks here at anandtech, anandtech got in touch with gigabyte and suddenly an updated bios that fixed the pci lock issue appeared. more information can be found over at pc perspective. at any rate, this was my post:

we may have to contact anandtech like the m55 board users did. freakin retarded but that seems to be what it took for them :|

why would you add all these options for overclocking and not provide a bus lock... and not plan on updating the bios for a bus lock? if the system cannot boot due to a slightly overclocked sata bus, what is the point of being able to overclock anything?

unless this issue is resolved, this will also be my last gigabyte board. when i upgrade to the 6xx series chipset i'll look elsewhere. i didn't spend >$100 for a board that was touted as an overclocking board but runs at just barely over stock speeds. granted it's not a m59 series board but it was still marketed as an enthusiast board.

i have some fairly ferocious hardware... my mainboard (and i expect specifically the sata bus) is definitely what is holding me back.
