I recently got the Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 and need to buy some RAM which will play nice with it. Was looking to get DDR2 800, but apparently the board supports 1.8v RAM, but there isn't any DDR2 800 1.8v RAM out there?? I assume the board won't get along with 1.9v RAM?

Any thoughts? Recommendations?

TIA :)

Thanks Crappy, I already saw that list- was hoping for other recommendations, as there are only four 1 GB modules on the list.

Any one with good experience with any Mushkin, OCZ, Geil or G. Skill RAM on this mobo?

Thanks,

BTW, the Corsair model listed (CM2X1024-6400C4) is rated @ 2.1v, as opposed to the mobo's demand for 1.8v RAM sticks. What gives?

Thanks,

Well of course your mobo manufacturer aint ganna test every damn stick out there thats ddr2. Even though the manual might say 1.8v is needed, it means that is the default value it will boot with. With 2.1v I guess you can get into the biost and manually change it. Also look at QVL too see what chips at what memory configs are supported like micron and elpida which are widley used chips by memory manufacturers these days. You can also check out config guides from crucial (micron), corsair (micron and elpida or how u spell it), patriot, gskill (no mem config but just a list of mobos supported next to ram specs).
Good luck.

Oh forgot, the P5B has something like is says 128mb chips or x16 dont work, i guess x16 means 16 chip ram? So like if you see ram with 1024mb and has 8 chips, it wont work. 128 x 8 =1024mb. It still a little confusing why.
