The both ways is you unable to say higher taxes are good for the economy. Here is the same argument from before only that time there were claims of higher taxes being better for the economy.

http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2392594&highlight=new+york

What changed?

You're having it both ways, first you say that you'll die if you drink less than a thimble of water per day, now you're saying you also will die if you swallow 10 gallon of water at once!!

This is great! Everybody should read this, and understand why taxes are NECESSARY!

#1 and #2 ranked CA and NY are ranked 51st and 50th in effective tax rate, and are each ranked #1 and #2 in overall GDP.

This article doesn't exactly support your argument, however, Matt1970.

Overall GDP.

#1. California
#2. Texas
#3. New York
#4. Florida

That's also because of population.

That doesn't seem to factor in cost of living which can dramatically increase GDP in a state. What cost $88 in #50 Mississippi costs $106 in #1 Delaware. What costs $96 in #49 West Virginia costs $131 in #2 Alaska. What costs $91 in #48 Arkansas cost $133 in #4 Connecticut. See the trend of being higher on the GDP list means a much higher costs of living. I prefer to look at where these states are going.

It's interesting to see everyone cherry picking their economic indicators to confirm their already held prejudices.

Who would have thought Georgia, as a bastion of liberty?

Not many, save ideologues who have never been there or perhaps those stuck deep, deep within the bubble of cognitive dissonance they live in.

In some cases, it's both. Georgia's warped and broken system seems to be some kind of success story for Banana republicans, so odd. It's as fascinating as it is depressing really. Watching people fight against their own best interests, then act smug about it, never gets old for me.

Also, your definition of liberty sucks.

What prejudice? Read my post, I essentially ask Matt1970 to draw what conclusions he may from the data. I don't even give him a hint yet he totally understands....

I don't see how posting data and asking a question is confirming my own prejudice.

That was directed at me. He was even quoting me.

I am sick of these attacks on the Dumbfvckistanis who are just trying their best. Their best just happens to be dead last, but that's no excuse to single them out!

Who do we blame for our problems, if not them?

Georgia actually does some things I like a lot and has some culture. I would not refer to it as terrible, but their policies are screwing over their own residents. That has to be illuminated.

Things are the way they are in Georgia because their values are being upheld by the very folks they put in office. It's apparent those values call for the majority to make the necessary personal economic sacrifices to keep things exactly the way they are.

In other words, they like things the way they are and they don't want the Fed gov't messing with any of it. The rich are doing just fine there. And for the middle class and the poor, well, these folks are also happy with keeping the federally provided entitlements rolling in while they keep criticizing the gov't for allowing it to get "out of control" everywhere else.

They're having cake AND barrels of gov't issued ice cream to boot.....with the cherry on top even. So I'm happy for them.

And yes, I have family who were born and raised there. It just so happens the three kids in that family are all grown up and working/raising families in Washington, Michigan and Connecticut. ;)

Georgia may be 50th in state revenue per capita, but it does lead other states in having a large population of citizens missing three teeth or more.

\that's got to count for something.

This is why economics has its own field with phd programs, yet random dudes like to spout off about it.

You are right, it looks like 9 of the top 10 practice the least amount of multiculturalism.
