I am trying to set my boot drive to a usb dvd drive to install windows 7 but the mobo will not power both at the same time. I can either have the keyboard plugged in and access the bios but then the drive isn't there to select, or I can have the drive plugged in but the keyboard will not power/respond...
help please?
Thanks very much!

Are they both plugged into the rear, directly into the board? Sometimes front panel USB leads can be bad for this kind of thing.

Are you using the USB2.0 ports located below the LAN ports on the back of the motherboard (there ought to be 4 of them there - the ports below the PS2 keyboard connector are USB3.0 ports which you won't be able to use until the OS and USB3.0 driver are installed).

Also, check in the BIOS to ensure that the onboard USB2.0 controller is enabled and also that all of the USB ports are enabled.

Your legacy USB settings may also play a part in this. What motherboard do you have?
