GA h55n USB3 cannot view Hitachi Deskstar 3tb drives

How can I format this to view the entire 3tb or at least 2.8 or so instead of 2.16 tb only. I have no more slots left except in ESata.. but that also did not show the whote 3tb or 2.6-2/8tb but 2.16tb only. Advise?
