GA-H55M-USB3 POST issues

Hi all,

I've got a boot issue with my HTPC. It would get stuck (or freeze, I can't tell) at the POST splash screen. It would not respond to any keyboard commands either so I cannot enter the BIOS page. There are no error beeps either. It wouldn't boot from a USB stick either (BIOS is either not set to boot from USB or it's a different issue).

I'm suspecting a hardware failure at this point. It could be either the CPU, RAM or motherboard. I disconnected the SSD&HDD from the system and still encounter the same issue so I have ruled those out. I have no spare parts to test with unfortunately so I'm hoping someone could pinpoint what are the typical causes of this issue? Specs below:
Intel Core i5-760
Gigabyte GA-H55M-USB3
Sapphire HD7870
Crucial M4 128GB + 500GB HDD
Silverstone GD05
Corsair VX-450 (PSU)
4 x 2GB Kingston DDR3

All running at stock BIOS settings.

I appreciate your help and input on this. Thanks in advance.

Do you have a speaker plugged into the motherboard? It will probably give you a beep code.

Just off a wild hunch, are all the fans that plug into the board spinning?

And am I correct in assuming that you have had this computer for a while?

Hi,

While troubleshooting this (unplugging amd reinstalling the same components really), the mobo bios eventually recognised an error and reset itself. Now it is booting normally. I haven't used it much since then but I hooe that's the end of it.

I have had this computer for about 7 years so a component failure is foremost in my mind. During troubleshooting, when I turn on the computer, the fans do spin but I notice they stop spinning for a while then come back on. Not sure if that's the fan speed control in action or something else.
