I have four sticks of ram, all the same speed, etc. Only two slots (1,3) are working. When I load the other slots (2, 4), then I get the "bad ram" beeps.

Any ideas what to do here? I'm unable to make changes to the memory in the BIOS (it's grayed out), but I did up the speed to 1.9v from "default".

Thanks!

Note: Not all four sticks are the same brand. 2 of one brand, 2 of another. Each stick is 1gb DDR2-6400

Voltage is not speed. You should probably have it set to 1.5 volts. What RAM do you have? I assume you tried all combination's in slots 2 & 4? If you were messing with ram settings in the BIOS, maybe those particular slots are now set different than 1 & 3. Did you try resetting BIOS settings to default?

Ram that isn't matched may or may not work together.

I've had this problem myself over the years. Whenever possible, buy a kit of however many you want. That way, (hopefully) they've tested and matched the RAM for compatibility. MOST of the RAM manufacturers will tell you the same thing and won't guarantee that sticks of the same model will work together if not bought as a kit.

It SHOULD all work...but it doesn't always.

You need to post specs if you want help. In general, many older boards have problems when fully populated. Run memtest86 to check ram. Do you have an updated BIOS?
