Finally got time to put together the parts I bought awhile back, but now the problem is after a fresh install
of winxp and the ep35-ds3l chipset/lan drivers I don't have anything in network adapters/connection besides 1394. I've tried flashing to latest bios to see if it'd help no dice. ive also checked in bios integrated peripherals under "SMART LAN" but nothing is listed in there.

One thing I'm not sure of is when I install the lan drivers it tells me, "the realtek ethernet controller was not found. if deep sleep mode is enabled. please plug the cable."

comp specs:

cpu e7200
mobo ga-ep35-ds3l
ram 2x2gb gskill pc8000
psu corsair 520hx
hd samsung hd502hj
gpu sapphire 4850 512mb
os winxpsp3

sounds like it may be defective. You are sure it is enabled in the bios, and you have nothing showing up in device manager?

it doesnt even show up in bios
You mention the smart lan section, but it should be under integrated peripherals. On my non-E version, the smart lan thing worked, but even with the newest BIOS, is kind of weird and buggy.

OK, I'm going to reboot my DS3R (Windows has been wanting me to do it since last patch Tuesday, anyway... :)), and check. It aught to be exactly the same the DS3L.
