I have just got a Giga-Byte ga-8sq800 motherboard and everything was good. I installed the OS, then the Giga-Byte CD, then the ATI 3.2 drivers for my 9500pro, then after reboot the windows xp screen was on there for about 5 mins, then it went blank for another five mins, after that, it came up but never did put a task bar at the bottom or any icons on the screen. I rebooted again and the same thing. I went into safe mode (it will go in fine) and unistalled the 3.2 drivers. Rebooted and same thing. Cleared CMOS, same thing. Then I decided to fomat and start all over, reinstalled windows and this time it never worked from the begining. Once the install was complete and windows screen came up and did the same thing.

I then started eliminating hardware.
- took out one of the DIMMS
- took out the other DIMM
- took out the sound card (audigy2)
- took out the LAN card (linksys)
- took out the USB 2 headers
- took out the 1394 sister card

Nothing has woked so far, if anyone has any guesses (or if you know that would be better) let me know. Thanks

OK I tried one mem DIMM in all slots, then the other in all slots. I took out the 9500pro and put in a geforce2 still nothing, while I was posting the first message the machine sat there for about 30 mins and in that time loaded windows. However I couldn't do anything. as soon as I clicked on the start menu it froze up. Thanks

I think it is fixed. It has been running now for about a half hour real good. After a few people said they thought it was the windows, I decided to install it again ( the forth time today) but this time I used a different cd-rom, for what ever reason it works great. The CD-rom that was in it was just taken out of my old system, it worked great there. Any way I'll post back after I've had a few more hours on it. Thanks for the help.:D
