Hi, just got my GA-8INXP today. Put the 3.06 GHZ cpu and the 1gig of DDR ram in it, connected only the basics, vid card, scsi card and 1 cd-rom drive. Connected the PSU (Vantec), pressed power button the system cuts on, however I am getting absolutly no video at all. I have used a 9700 Pro and 2 various other video cards with the same effect. If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

I have been waiting 4 months on this motherboard and now this, I feel like my head is about to go boom!

Mine takes ages for the video to initalize.
Good 2 to 3 minutes.
Unsure why.

Give it some time.

I am having problems w/ my 9700 Pro and this board as well. I also see long delays w/ the video initalizing (totally miss the POST results) but, wrote that off as a DVI issue.

I am also having big problems w/ this board crashing the video to 256 color is I up the FSB past 133 EVEN WITH THE AGP/PCI LOCKED AT STOCK!

What FSB are you running the board at Mike14k?

I am getting zero video output, no posts at all. This is leading me to believe either the AGP slot is dead or the CPU is dead. The vid cards I tested worked fine in other system, so the vid cards are fine. The box the CPU came in was slighty crushed so was the P4 box itself. So I have no way to test the cpu. Makes me wonder if it is the board or the CPU. The Ram is gooded tested it on my old Alienware System. I have no clue as what to do. I have built many systems but this is by far the strangest situation I have had with any of the systems. The other problem is Giga-Bytes tech support is non existent due to the Chienese new year. So I am stuck with more then likely having to RMA both the CPU and Mobo and wait another 2 weeks to get a replacement :( *sigh*. Four months of waiting and this.

dmhinz if you are using DVI output you should get no video until windows loads, due to the digital signal.

That's a bummer - w/ the scarce availability of the 8INXP you will surely have to wait in line again - I feel your pain

DVI does produce a video signal prior to Windows loading - if not, you could never set the BIOS params :) My video comes up fine using DVI, it is just slow on boot and I almost never see the POST results.:disgust:

I know, the wait is what is going to kill me. I need to find a freind quick with a 478 socket mobo to test out the cpu and test the 8INXP with a diffrent P4. :) Oh well........the pain is increasing the more I turn my head right and look at the open case and the mobo taunting me.

Many people experience similar problems with various boards nowadays, most likely due to some power issues. Sometimes the PSU is too powerful for the rig :D. It can be fixed with a weaker PSU, that's miraculous. For example, if your system doesn't make it with a 300 - 450 watter, you may solve the problem with a 250W one.

wow... ive always heard of or seen the opposite, it seems to be the lack of power that hurts... i dunno tho

Don't forget that it could be the RAM too. I got some DDR once that was incompatible with my old ECS K7S5A. I had a hard time believing it was the memory and it was one of the last things I tried. I even sent the board back because I thought it was defective. Good luck finding an answer.

Weird - my 8inxp powers up within a couple of seconds.

I mentioned in an earlier thread that I saw that GB chipset seems to have some problem with the pci/agp lock, and to try 34/68 instead of the default 33/67... maybe it works for somebody else. dunno.

I have one quick question, is Corsair 512MB DDR266 PC2100 184 DIMM CAS2.5 Registered ECC Memory compatiable with the GB chipset? I am super paranoid right now since the video came on for a split second during a trouble shooting call with Giga-byte a few days ago. The weird thing though the AGP warning light for when you insert a 2x card always comes on with 4x and 8x cards. Thats why giga-byte and myself have concluded the agp slot to be bad. I am just a little paranoid right now. I have assembled many system, but none with such a strange action of the mobo. I am so paranoid, makes wonder exactlly what it is that is acting wiggey.
