GA-8IEXP(ddr) or GA-8IHXP(rambus)

I'm planning on building a system this upcoming month based around a p4 2.53ghz cpu and can't quite decide on which motherboard to go for.

I plan on doing some classic gaming emulation, flight sims, doom III and the like.. so will I need (and benefit from the extra performance of pc1066 rambus? Or will pc 2100-ddr suffice? And since i'm leaning toward the 845e based board right now what company makes ddr sticks 1GB in size? I want to put a full 2GB in this board.

Get the RDRAM, The P4 is a memory bandwith dependent chip.
P4s are slower than crap with anything less than PC2700/DDR333 or PC800 Rambus.

lol, thats a good way to put it 😉

if you are going with GA-8IHXP, then go with PC 1066 rambus memory instead of PC 800.
also note that from next year, Intel will not support RDRam. It is moving towards DDR.

DDR 400 will meet PC 800 easily. Although it is not out yet, DDR 333 is out and you can overclock it to near DDR 400 standards.

heres my solution:

GA-8IHXP w/ PC 1066 rambus memory
or
GA-8IEXP w/ DDR 333 memory (this is what i am getting)

you wont see the performance difference in real life, although you might see a slight differences in benchmarks. i would be little weary of investing my money in something that wont be supported 1 year from today, no matter how good it is.

hope that helps

Is it possible to put 2GB of ddr-333 into the GA-8IEXP and have a rock solid stable system? If so, what memory sticks and by who?

i dont know if 1 GB DDR sticks are out or not. i think that they are out but hard to find. I would recommend going with a brand name for memory. Samsung, Corsair are the best in my opinion.
