What do you think about a little M-ATX board that has a 20 pin PS connector, accept your leftover AGP card, and your DDR 400 from the attic. It supports all the way up to Core 2 duo extreme, is rock solid like a supermicro and is available at Newegg for $47.99. Try to beat this one.

i dont really think thats a great deal especially for a budget agp board. you can easily get an ECS p4m800pro -m on ebay for $20 + shipping

It still has the 4 pin CPU connector, so in a way, it's still 24.

[Edit] One more nitpick: 3 Business Day Shipping $6.13

Hey Hans, long time no see.
Is that ECS board available in mATX? Is that chipset better than the Gigabyte one?

I forgot the solid capacitors around the CPU in case you are baking a Pentium D. Positions of connectors, new voltage reg. and new ITE controller.

I have this board, and it works just fine. Supports up to the latest Pentium D CPU, and has a nice layout. Of course, as has been pointed out, AGP/DDR/SATA1 is old tech, but if you want to upgrade to socket 775 but keep all of your other hardware, this is probably the way to go.

Is yours Rev 2? Supposedly, those handle Core 2 Duo?

The Asrock is probably a good board too. The only problem with Asrock is the position of the main connector. Having a desktop Coolermaster in my Den + a Thermalright XP-90,it would be a kind of challenge to connect with this kind of layout.

This is a good board for the price. As is, this would be a great board for business or a user with simple to medium PC demands. Repeating what?s already been said, AGP/SATA1/DDR is aging technology, so it has a limited upgrade path. However, if it supports Core 2 duo, that would be another plus for this board, increasing it?s longevity. Where did you get the rev 2 information? I could not find it on their site or google.

I took the gamble from the comment before mine (under Frenchie) at new egg. Since then, two friends ordered 1 and we all got rev. 2.0. I would imagine now that Newegg got a 2.0 batch. They cannot go backward.

It supports the 800bus of the 4300 (with ddr 400) I do not know if it will support fully an 800 bus cpu with a 266 or 333 mem which I would use for a 533 bus cpu. There is a feature in the bios which support the 1066bus. However, two conditions must be filled to do so (1066). You must have ddr 400 memory and using an AGP vd-cd. It means you cannot be on a 1066 bus if you use 266 or 333 memory AND/OR on-board video.

I dont know if the chipset is "better"

but the ecs board, does support ddr2 and ddf1. buts its a via chipset. for the use a board like this would be used for, i doubt it would really matter which chipset.

(Yes, I know that this is a thread resurrection.)

If there is anyone that purchased a rev 2.0 version of this board, and it is still in good working condition, I would like to make you an offer. I need an 865PE/G chipset board that supports C2D CPUs. Maybe even more than one for spares.

Edit: My bad. I found this thread through some google searches, and I neglected to notice that it was in Hot Deals, thought that it was from the Mobo forum.

So this doesn't get locked, I found a current deal on these at ZipZoomFly . Only problem is, they don't state if they are rev 2.0 or not. They are open-box, for $46. (Which is practically what they cost new at NewEgg when they were introduced two years ago. So ZZF's price isn't that great, but it's the only option I've found to get it at this point.)

Edit: Apparently, they only had one in stock, and I bought it. Just got it today, and it IS a rev 2.0. So I lucked out. Haven't tested it yet, didn't have the 775 protective cover on it.
