I just upgraded from Athlon 1800+ to 2600+ on my GA-7VAX. The mobo keeps reading the new cpu as 1600+. I try not to mess with the BIOS too much and just leave everything as auto. Do you guys think it's a BIOS problem? I'm gonna try to upgrade the BIOS, but I gotta buy a floppy drive first. I don't know too much cpu ratios. If it is a BIOS problem, can someone help me out with setting it up?

Did you put the bus to 333 mghz? Most 2600+ use the 333 bus not the 266 bus. Go into the BIOS and set it correctly.

I've tried to set the host cpu clock to 165MHz (that's as high as it goes) but it won't start with that setting. It goes to its other BIOS setting with 133MHz setting.
