Okay, I was having some confusion about dual channel - and kevgray cleared that up in another thread - and in my investigations I found that my sticks (2 of them) of 512 DDR memory were only being detected / run at 256 MB DDR.

How do I fix this?

I have tried them in different slots.

I have upgraded BIOS.

I have checked Gigabytes website.

I have read through another forum.

I have no answers at this time.

Quick List:

512 MB DDR (PC 2100+) memory running as 256MB DDR.

DOSfan,

I am running the same board and have two sticks of 512 PC 2700. I put them in DIMM slots 1&3 and the system recognized them immediatley. Just after the initial mem check runs on boot, mine says "dual channel". Are the sticks you are using identical?

I am not covinced that my decision to go from MSI (which I have built numerous systems with) to the 7N400 Pro 2 was a good choice. I have searched tons of forums and this board seems to be plagued with problems. The 7N400 Pro doesn't seem to have as many. I still haven't found any place to change the voltage to a specific setting. Mine is reading 1.70-1.74 and it should be somewhere around 1.65. (See my other post on this thread).

Hopefully some of these MB/memory gurus on here will have a better answer.

Well Sheetz69,

The sticks ae identical.

In slots 1 & 3, or 1 & 2, or reverse order 1 & 3, the sticks are detected as 256MB.

When I have the sticks in 1 & 3 the Dual Channel Enabled message appears.

And as far as using these mobo's: I have had little problem. There is the memory thing I am working on now, but other than that the real problem is the hardware monitoring. Everything I have (except remote sensors) tells me that my CPU is running hotter than my last board, and while I was swapping boards I upgraded my HS/F.

And I noticed the voltage thing too. I am going to look into it the near future. My AMD 2100+ seems to be getting 1.77V. But I do not know if their voltage sensors are as skewed as their temp sensors. :(
