GA-7N400 Pro 2 Rev 2 - Maxtor HD utilities incompatible w/Sata Controller

I am attempting to do a LLF or run Diagnostic tools on my 300G Maxtor SATA HD. It bit the dust on me a while back and before I RMA it I want to make sure it's truely toast, and if so I want to get all of my data off of it (don't like that I'd be RMA'ing a drive with my finances on it, although I doubt it would be an issue)

Does anyone have any experience with this MOBO and using Maxtor Utilities? I don't have another computer handy that has a SATA controller that I can use that would recognize this drive.

Bump. Heck, if anyone has advice with running low level formats in general and knows of a good tool to do it, let me know.
