hey all,
I recently purchased this mobo with a PII X4 965 BE with Fry's combo (free mobo! more or less).
also using Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus heatsink, with Antec Neo Eco 620W PSU.
well, I did a quick power up to make sure the case fans were blowing and sucking as they should, and noticed the CPU fan, as well as the front case fan would not power on.
CPU fan is plugged into the CPU fan jumper on the board, (4-pin jumper next to 12V connector); and front case fan is plugged into one of the 3-pin or 4-pin board jumpers (neither work).
rear case fan works, being plugged into the fan power jumper near the top of the board.
the front fan has a molex power adapter which will power the fan (loud as bloody hell, though--damn thermaltake), but I don't have a 4-pin > molex adapter to use for the CPU.
Any ideas?
One concern is that the power supply, which seems to be quite new, has the 2 x 4-pin connector for the 12V rail. One of the PSU's 4-pin connectors has matching pins (2 square-shaped + 2 rounded pins); but the other 4-pin connector in the pair has only rounded pins, whereas the jumper on the board has 2 square shapes and 2 rounded.
both connectors fit, though...so I didn't see this as a problem. do I only need to connect one of the 4-pin connectors for the 12V rail? is that insane?
Thanks in advance for my infantile lack of proper hardware & EE jargon.
EDIT: I should mention that the CPU/heatsink fan "tries" to rotate. It gives ~1/5 turn every 3 or 5 seconds when powered, but never gives a full rotation. Then again, this might just be action from the rear exhaust fan, located about 4 inches from the CPU fan, pulling air through the dead fan.
