looks like the top 4 nvidia single cards to play with are:

8800gts
9800gtx
8800ultra
9800gx2

For the price the win probably goes to an overclocked 8800gts 512 for $196

yah 2 9600gt in sli is my pick overall. especially at $218 AR. I just have a hard time trying to find cheap sli boards :)

Thanks for the link, stickied for future reference.

I would've liked to have seen clock-for-clock comparisons though to see if we could isolate differences to architecture and not markitecture. Specifically the G80 GTS parts. Such a sad fate for that part to always have to be clocked at 500-513MHz against everything else when it easly clocks to 600+ and was widely available at 576+ clock speeds. A comparison for all parts at 600/1000 with shader at default would've been just about perfect. Sure the G92 parts can clock much higher than that, but the benefit gained from core OCs for G92 are much less than G80.

Well there's always OC version of the chip although all non OC chips overclock to OC clocks. 3rd party has been doing this for a while now to milk the consumers.

There's so many different clocked 9600gt, 8800gs, 8800gt, now a days.
