Nice beginning of a review at HardOCP.
These cards look killer!

Oblivion performance looks awesome.
Out of curiosity what drivers were they using?

My GTS comes tomorrow.
Just want to pre-download them in advance 😛

The 8800 GTS rapes the X1950 XTX in Oblivion, and in the UK costs only £20 more 😛
I see bad things ahead for ATI.

Man, the nVidia counterintelligence people are too good. The real specs are a lot better than what was leaked.

Damn, I was in the middle of reading about AA on HardOCP and the article is now gone 🙁

Didnt even get to see any performance testing yet.
 
It's going up and down sporadically. I can still read it. Their benchmarks are useless for any comparison though.

Are there any screenshots of the new CSAA modes? I couldn't find any on there. It's great to see the AF fixed up though; looks like it's better than any of the current cards. :thumbsup:
 
Where? I click on the link and nothing shows. Then when I search for "8800GTX" in the articles it doesn't give any results.

From what I've read it seems like most of those disabled quads are just bad. Maybe a partial unlock? 4 out of 8 wouldn't be bad.

I guess another problem would be - does it have enough juice to supply them.



 
I'm guessing it won't unlock given that the 7800GTs never did (even if the quad was working, Nvidia put in some sort of hardware lock on it), but it looks like quite a good performer at stock speeds.

It seems that there are a number of GTS reviews out now but hardly any GTX ones. The only one I could find with conventional benchmarks was this one, but they inexplicably compare it to only a 7900GT.
 
That Tweaktown article seems lacking. Why not bench SS2 as well? It came with the card and is the only game from within their testbed that supports FP16HDR.
 
That TweakTown review showed the 8800GTS absolutely raping an X1950XTX in almost every bench.

Looks like its a winner.
