G80 in July Likely?

Is it possible that Nvidia will release the G80 in July, because I've been seeing it mentioned a few times around the internet lately... Just doing a reality check, but if yes, that would be so sweet 😀

end of this year is more likely...around the time vista and directx10 actually show up.

Vista and DX10 are not needed for G80s launch.

They would be missing their cycle hard if they didnt release something in July/Aug.

I think they gave up on their cycle awhile ago...

NVIDIA just launched the 7950GX2, if they released G80 next month they would cannibalize their own sales.

Is the 7950GX2 in full blown production? Or is it a limited production card. What I am hearing is that the proper drivers for QuadSLI wont get here until July, making me feel that G80 is nowhere in sight yet. If it is not a regular steady production card, then I can see G80 getting here earlier. Weird logic, I know.

Of all 4 7950s they sold?

Why even post something like this? Do you know how many people are using eVGA's step up program to nab one or two of these puppies? The queue is full for this card.

This is not counting sales by other vendors of course.

Ever since Vista got delayed again AND again, i think this is having a big impact on NV/ATi (or in other words screwing up their roadmap).

But then i always knew ATi would release the R600 later this year or Q1 07 because of the upcoming R570/560 refreshes. (R570 being the X1950 series and R560 being X1700 series i think it was.

NV is more of a mystery. Not sure what they are planning. It wouldve been awesome if they unleashed a 32 pipe beast but i guess they werent too sure of when Vista/DX10 was actually coming.

That WAS a dumb thing to say. They GX2 is a pretty sweet card. I'd get one if I didn't already have x1900 crossfire.

Not the most reliable source by any stretch, but this Inq story says September if there are no problems, but potentially several months later if there are. Take it for what it's worth, but I would expect it some time in the late Fall, definitely not in July or August. The story goes on to say paradoxically that it is DX10, but doesn't fully support SM4. As I understood, DX10 was an all or nothing proposition, with no more cap bits.

i reckon on Oct/Nov for volume sales.

still be six months (nearly) after the last refresh 7900/7950.

It was more like 10 months between the 7800 series launch and the 7900 series, and that was only a process shrink, so it's not like the 6 month rule applies anymore. I'm expecting the g80 sometime this fall, but my guess is as good as anyone else's.

with a 9/18 month cycle, G80 in Q406/Q107 would be right on time...

I thought they were on a 6 month cycle...everyone went all crazy over it and then the card companies found it near impossible to meet those deadlines because of the tech involved. 18 months was the processor industry...unless im completely mistaken.

Monarch keeps selling out the same day they get them in. I got lucky to get mine. Last BFG at the retail store.
