G7 battery charging problems

I am having some difficulty with my G7 in that it appears the batteries dont get charged when in the station. Is there meant to be an LED that comes on when charging, cause that doesnt happen for me. I have all of the software that came with the mouse installed. I left a battery in the station overnight (yes the computer was on), but it was still flat in the morning. Any help would be much appreciated, as I dropped a lot of green on this mouse to have it simply not work due to battery problems.

I am not familiar with the G7 charger but it is a common problem for the MX series to have to have their contacts cleaned or wiggled in their cradle for appropriate contact to be made.
 
My suggestion, is to return it and get a new one and see if it has the same problem. Unless returning it is not an option.

I don't own one personally, but I haven't heard of any problems from the folks who have had them on here.
