which is best? im on a Dual Optical now, and its to light for me, and not very smooth at all.

which is the better mouse? i hate cords, but if the G5 is that much better, i will accept the cord.

The G5 is 100 times better then the MX1000 IMO.
Even the G7, the wireless version of G5, doesn't compare.

I've had the G7 for awhile now and love it. It's great for MMO's but not sure what it would do for a FPS.

OP, how big of a gamer are you?

pretty big, CSS gamer.

Ok never ever get wireless stuff if you game delay=bad

I'm convinced this game delay stuff is myth. I have yet to ever witness this and I play bf2 like a fiend. You guys must have your receivers in a faraday cage or something.

Edit: I should note I went from a MX700, to a MX510, to a MX1000.

CSS is much different than BF2 many time in CSS you need to camp and many times (i'm not sure if its that case with 1000) when the mouse isn't use it goes into a semi sleep mode to save battery which means that the first movement only turns it back "on" then it registers the second movement an in a game like CSS thats life and death right there

BF2 is just a pub game anyway :p

Also if you don't believe in the delay your lying to yourself as slight as it is (the time it take for the mouse to communicate with the comp) thats still a slight advantge to the wired player

Yeah camping yourself in a corner holding perfectly still long enough so that the mouse goes asleep... that isn't pubster. I find squad movements with 3 people onto a flag covering multiple approaches far more interesting than the simple twitch in CSS. Competitive BF2 play opens up a whole new experience.

Well whatever you want to say but CSS>BF2 and my reason as to why he should get a wireless mouse are legit

The MX1000 has both forward and backward thumb buttons while the G5 has only one thumb button (as far as I can remember). That in itself is a deal breaker for me.

I am waiting to get one of those Logitech V400 dual laser notebook mice...

I'll add I've been owned by wire drag far more times than this fantasy lag. No clip or positioning ever seems to completely solve that problem.

MX1000 is too heavy and the laser technology is the first generation, so there are some flaws with tracking in certain condidtions(I mentioned this in other threads). I don't notice any lag at all to be honest, but the lag(after sleep mode) could be annoying. Battery life is really good. It has all the buttons. However, I like the button placement on the G5 much better, especially the cruise up and down buttons(AKA the DPI switches - you can program them to do cruise up and cruise down for whatever programs you want from the SetPoint software).

G5 is only $49 right now from Best Buy with no Rebates. I know the cord could be bad sometimes, but you don't have to deal with batteries and it is not heavy.

The MX1000 might be good for browsing the web for people with big hands, but it's no way a gaming mouse like the G5.

I thought the G7 was approx $6x after rebate on Newegg a while ago vs. $53 for the G5.

and yea some of us hate wire drag. i could feet it even if i made sure there was slackfor the mouse. just can't stand it, have to go wireless. and frankly i i do well enough in cs source that i don't see wireless holding me back. now maybe if u are that top 1% player that wins tournaments u might need wired for your inhuman reflexes or something.

I really like the 'furry' texture of the G5, but some people hate it, see if you can find one you can actually touch before deciding.

Also on the G5 downside, the side button doesn't work in games without their software running, a fact which irks me greatly.
