G5 mouse issue

Yeah, install the logitech setpoint software if you havn't already, and lower the acceleration. I think that the lowest acceleration (not off) is the same as what most mouses have with default windows drivers.
 
under the mouse options in xp you can also try turning off the enhanced mouse precision. That can also effect the speed of the mouse the way you are describing.

It still feels different than my old Microsoft intellipoint mouse. I guess i just have to get used to it.

Try some custom mouse sensitivity settings too. I think that the G5 by default has 400, 800, and 2000 dpi loaded, but I find that using the setpoint software to set 600 is the perfect spot for me.
