User brought me a G5 at work because it won't power on. I noticed there was some liquid, odorless, but a little greasy leaking out the back of it....

I've never heard of the a heat pipe bursting, but he swears there is no way anything was spilled on it.

pics coming as soon as I figure out how to get this monstrosity of a heat sink off...

Sorry, for the crappy pic, only have my phone:

Is it a dual? IIRC, the dual G5s are watercooled..... hopefully the "no power-on" is a safety feature in the event of a watercooling leak and not a pair of fried CPUs!

it is under warranty... so I got apple to send a guy with some parts.

I can't get this stupid heatsink off! I found some instructions, but this pin is impossible to move.

There have been reports of leaking G5s. Apple is fixing them under warranty, and in many cases, even after warranty has expired.

So Apple is sending out a new motherboard/cpu/heatpipe and the strangest part a new case! The repair guy said I could keep the old case, so I'm pretty psyched about that!
