I've said a few times before I have a 2006 G35x, and that particular car only comes with D2R xenon reflectors for low beams, in the upper bay of the headlight capsule. I wanted to put in FX-R bixenons into that upper bay, preserving the H4 halogen in the lower bay. The G37-R shrouds went unused due to space constraints; the OEM ballasts were reused to save money and because they work great. The project took a total of around thirty hours. The first capsule, from the time I unsealed it, to the time its bezel was fitted, took 2/3 of those hours. I just spent about 90 minutes driving around. Nobody flashed their lights at me to indicate mine were overly high.
Before, low beams, about 50 feet, through the windshield.
Final bracket design, right headlight.
Final bracket design, right headlight.
Reflector cut to fit, left headlight.
Bezel just before cutting, left headlight.
They're hard to see, but there are two small acrylic wings attached to the projector at left and right, painted metallic silver. These hide the screws, brackets, and back of the capsule from easy viewing at the front.
An overhead view of the right headlight. No shroud looks fine IMO, because the FX-R lens has a chrome ring.
Cutoff, about fifty feet, same lot as before. The lot is not perfectly level, so don't mind the slope. Picture taken from alongside the left front fender.
Same as above picture, except picture taken at 6-8 feet.
High beams. FX-R at high, plus the H4 bulbs at high.
