Learn about how to deal w/ online sales manangers--will not go on the phone or go into the lot =)

I'm just going to try to play the dealers against each other and get the G35 for as close to invoice if not below it!! :)

Are there any forums out there than can specialize in telling me how much people have spent for their's New/Used--and how their bargaining went?

If anybody is here who can chime in it would be great also!

Thanks

You would think that by now the dealers are used to people attempting to play them against each other, and probably have some deal figured out between the local dealers.

Hmm that is a valid point, maybe I should go with a larger radius then? Or should I not worry about it?

I dunno?! The only way you could honestly play them against each other is to get the price from one on paper + specs and drive to the other and show it to him, rinse and repeat until one throws you out of the office. I really dont see it working well over the phone, I mean why should they take you seriously if you arent even gonna go to the dealership and put a face to the name thats about to make a huge purchase.

They probably get quite a few price quotes over the internet every and wont take any seriously unless someone mentions wanting to see the car or something.

meh, I've always just said "I'll give you xx,xxx for the car. It will be the easiest sale you make all month."

"so tell me, do you want to sell a car today?"

They normally take it. Plus you're at end of month/holiday weekend. Should be all over it.

I think they take you pretty seriously don't they?

I've heard of people dealing over email and then just coming in for the car.

Has anybody had experience w/ this? I went to places like cardirect.com to get quotes... I didn't include my real address or real phone number, and told them in the note that I'd only prefer over email transactions--I can see how they won't take me serious if I won't supply them w/ the proper ID... what do you guys think?

I recommend securing a loan beforehand, that way you can tell the dealer "If you sell it to me for xxx amount, I can come in today and buy it." That's what I did when I was shopping for my 350Z, got a loan from PeopleFirst.com (now Capital One) and started checking the inventory of local dealers online for a Z that matched what I wanted, I'd also email the Internet Sales Manager's with what I was looking for. After a month of looking, a salesperson called me up on a Saturday morning asking if I was still in the market. He had one on the lot that matched what I wanted, I told him what I wanted to pay and that I'd buy it that morning, he talked to his manager, back and forth a few times, and I got my price. Drove to the dealership, test drove the car, loved it, bought it.

That's a good way of doing it. Tell them straight up, "I can have $32,000 to you by close of business today. It's up to you if you want that money." If you know exactly what you want, and have the money, and know what a reasonable price for your car is (adding in something reasonable for dealer profit), there's no reason you should get taken. I think people tend to get taken on leases or payment plans. It's so much easier to muddy the details and obscure what someone is really paying for a car that way.

Thanks guys, I definitely want to get this deal done since it's nearing the end of the month and I'm hoping they want to finish off their quota thing... shrug

But yeah, I'm thinking about getting a 36-37K G35 for 31-32K =)

I really hope for it! I'm going to secure a loan soon... how long does the process usually take? I might go through cred union or through my bank... sorry if I'm such a newbie at this!

The G35 coupe is in high demand therefore you may not get a good price. Most 2005 car models come out in August or September. You may want to wait a month or so if you are buying 04 model. Just a thought. Let us know the out the door price and the options.

I didn't know the G35 was in that high of demand? I always figured that since it's got two series of models out the 03 and 04 and the coupe and sedan that there would be plenty to keep demand good

It only took a few hours to get approved online. You can try PeopleFirst.com or eLoan.com, who is what I used when I bought my Audi A4 back in 2000. Both processes are the same, you fill out an online application and they'll send you an approval email usually same day. Then within a week they'll send you a blank check which you can use for up to the amount you're approved for. Smooth as buttah...

I am not sure how much the 04 will drop once the 05s hit... I know I won't get an 05 when an 05 comes out... I don't think the cost reduction would warrant a wait... I kind of need the car for work ;) (excuses excuses ;))

There is supposedly going to be some moderate changes to the interior of the G35 for the 2005 model year. I am waiting to see what those changes are, and then make my final decision between the G35 and the TL :D

NO! I need a car for work!

Dang, still not a good excuse, since I live less than a mile from work... but w/ no commute, the car would have very low miles, and excellent resale value (yeah right, like I'd ever get rid of it).

After I get back from a camping trip the last week of this month, I'm starting my hunt for a G35 coupe. I know what options I want, just can't decide on the exterior color. I've done some reading over at g35driver.com's forums, alot of good info.
