AsRock ITX. I should clarify I can set the RAM speed higher than 1600Mhz, it just becomes unstable even with extra volts etc. I think my 3258 has a weak memory controller but at least it clocks to 4.5.

Hmm, interesting! I haven't seen too much data on expected maximum memory overclocks on the G3258. In fact, lots of people just seem to run DDR3-1600 or 1333 (if they are doing cheapy OCs) and call it a day.

Yeah the lower end chipsets like the H81 seem to be limited to 1333 or 1400 Mhz max.

With other Z87/97 board I've seen reports of 2000+ memory speeds so it could just be my CPU. However unless you're running strictly on the IGP it doesn't matter a whole lot from a performance perspective to go beyond 1333 or 1600.
