I'm waiting on some more information such as DVD/CDRW, screensize, etc. I'll update as I receive.

He wants $500, I want a laptop, preferably a mac.

So...what do you think of this price?

I did. According to the one seller on ebay, this is a good deal...and if it's a good deal and I decide to pass it up, someone can ask if they can get it through me at price if it's really a good deal.

That price seems way to high. I just bought a mint condition Sony Vaio GRX-550 with 2.4 Ghz, 512 ram, cd-rw/dvd drive, 16.1" (equivalent to a 17" monitor) for $750. It even came with a 802.11g card and bag. Keep looking ... I know that Macs are more pricey but that seems like a lot for an older unit. If you cannot find a Mac in your price range go with a Windows-based laptop, they are cheaper.

A brand-new iBook G3 900 MHz 14.1" runs about $1000 on close-out.

They've been replaced by iBook G4 models.

Personally, I wouldn't buy an iBook, but $500 is a bit too much for me to pay for a 3-year old laptop.
