IB G1610 is $49 while G2120 is $99.

Would a average/typical user ( non-gamer, non-development, email/browsing/chat/music/video ) notice a difference between the two ?

Any reviews of G161x G20xx ?

Nope, they will not notice any difference. Add the savings for an SSD ;)

Intel would be greedy enough to charge 100% more for 1MB of cache and 20% more clock speed.

According to passmark and some minor curve fitting, a G1610 is just as fast as a ~4GHz core 2 E8600.

Both are Ivy based and have the same GPU. So with no gaming I would say no real noticable differance.

A SSD and the G1610 CPU would be a much better round system IMO.
