Unlike the 4000 it's especialy made for gaming with the backlit keys, 54 macro keys which can be very useful in games like WoW, CS or can be assigned to other functions like programs or folders. Some argue if the LCD would really enhance your gaming performance with the extra game information that it will be able to show in some future games because you have to look down away from your monitor. But even if you don't really use if for that it is still awesome. It shows CPU/RAM, clock, artist/ title/ time left if you play music and I'm sure a lot of other cool plugins will be available once programmers get started with the SDK.
As far as typing goes the G15 is very quite and the keys feel really nice.. not like cheap plasik. In short it is simply awesome and unless you really prefer the ergonomic key arrangement I would go for the G15.

The only place where it's available right now is at Best Buy I think. That's where I got mine and I haven't seen it anywhere else, not even at newegg or amazon.

Thanks, you're right. I've been looking everywhere for the G15. Best Buy has them in stock. A bit pricey, but that's the way it is when you're the only show in town.
