G-wirless router question

I am wondering if there is any different in term of speed between the following

using BT to download files

G-wirless Router with a G-wirless PCI card

compare to


Regular Router with a Regular ethernet card 10/100?


moreover, is there any recommanded G-wirless router?

there probably will not be a big differance between the 2 because of the bottleneck would be the speed at which your internet connection comes in at. most consumer level internet does not come close to the speeds that wireless or wired networks run at.

Personally I like d-link branded routers, and I find linksys not too bad either, but those are what im more familiar with.

There will not be a difference, the ISP will still be the bottleneck, the G speeds will only help lan speeds, not wan speeds.

i know it won't help the wan speeds...

but as compare to the lan speed? which one is faster or is it the same?

cause *some* of my friend said if i use G router it will not be as fast becuase it is wirless...

i think it doesn't make any sense at all..

Ethernet card = 10 Mbps / 100 Mbps

Wireless G = 54 Mbps

The fastest cable internet = 3 Mbps

Downloading from the internet can never be faster than the speed of your internet service. So I cannot imagine any difference between using a wireless router or a direct ethernet connection.

MScrip is right.

One issue though when using bittorrent is the number of connections going through the router and your cable/dsl modem. You may experience problems if you have it set high. I keep my main gaming rig on the wired network at home, and wireless is only for the laptop. I've never tried bittorrent through wireless, so good luck. If you don't already, be sure to check out the Azureus bittorrent client.
