G.Skill F3-12800CL7D-4GBECO test results

I am using these in my rig now,

i originally had corsair 1600/CL9 but my system struggled to run them at the highest rated speed, no matter how high i cranked the voltage.

I know that is considered an overclocked speed for the cpu/mobo, but particularly my unlocked core, i suspect the memory controller was weak, it was always the first to crap out in P95 testing with the corsair at 1600.

anyways, i have ECOs now and they will run 1600/CL9 for an hour or two no probs so far and trying 1600/CL7 right now

this test not exhaustive, but even thus far they are working better than the corsairs i was using, even despite my suspected weak core.

ed; CL7/1600 made the BIOS crap out and on gskills forum there is a blurb about how AMD boards do not support CL7 very well, trying CL8 instead..

Hmm 1600mhz, could've sworn I've heard higher than that for clarkdales.
that's the default for the sticks I've ordered, they won't even need to be oc'd,
oh well, if true ill just have to go for tighter timings & or underclocks/volts/timings

I think it's possible to get higher than DDR3-1600 on Clarksdale, but it isn't easy. Past a certain BCLK level (varies from chip to chip and board to board), you'll get stuck with the 4:12 multiplier, which isn't exactly great for memory clockspeed. With that multi, 266 BCLK = DDR3-1600, and getting 266 BCLK is sketchy.

Fair enough, I'll see how things go, picking out arguably the best all-round h5x board soon.
It's a toss-up between an asus or gb model, surprise, surprise... 🙂

Yeah but you don't buy them to be awesome OC'rs.
If they OC marginally, well then that's just a pleasant bonus 🙂
