G. Skill - Ares vs RipJaws

Can anyone tell me if there is anything different (quality, performance, OC, etc) between the Ares and RipJaw 16GB (2x8GB) line of G. Skill memory other than the profile size of the heat sinks?

I can get the Ares 16GB (2x8GB) for $94, which isn't bad with the current price gouging in memory.

My concern for Ares is that I have read where some say that G. Skill recommends the Ares line to run VCCIO/VCCSA voltage @ 1.25v. From my understanding, for SB-E/SB - it's not recommended you exceed 1.20v, 1.00v is default, and >1.35v is proven to degrade the SB-E/SB CPU permanently.

So, is this a concern or can I should I be able to run the Ares set at 1.25v or lower VCCIO/VCCSA voltage?

Here is my rig so far for reference:
CPU: Intel 3570K
MOBO: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO
COOLER: Zalman LQ-320
GPU: undecided between 7970 or GTX 680
RAM: undecided
SSD : 120GB Vertex 3
CASE: Silverstone FT-02
PSU: Seasonic X750
 
I bought the Ares 2x4gb DDR3-1866 for my rig and they work great. I think it's only the low-profile heatsink and they retain the same G.skill quality.

I bought the Ares because I wanted to make sure all would fit with the CM 212 EVO I use.

Do you know anything about my concerns with the VCCIO/VCCSA voltage I mentioned? Do you know what VCCIO/VCCSA voltage you are running @?

I think you are confusing memory voltage with CPU voltage. DDR3 is standardized to run at 1,5V and there is also a low voltage specification out with 1,25V.

Your CPU runs at a different and unrelated voltage.

Thanks, but I wasn't actually talking about memory voltage. I probably didn't explain myself right.
I was talking about more than the CPU voltage. More specifically I was talking about
VCCIO: integrate controller voltage
and
VCCSA: system agent voltage

My concern lies with G. Skill recommending 1.25v for VCCIO/VCCSA for Ares in a guide for Rampage IV Extreme. I wasn't sure if this was specific only to Ares+Rampage IV Extreme combo or Ares in general. Also, I am talking about the XMP profile.

Seems like it might be a mute point since not many here object to Ares and I can probably set it to XMP at first - test and then manually back off the VCCIO/VCCSA if needed...
