All bands with a male singer play a half step lower. Is that really much a difference.

No. But alt tuning like what the black crow do, or zep, or xyx. I like to play in lower darker basser tunins myself. but i also switch to my classical, acustic, standard strat, when I get bored. All in stardard or what I like to think is standard. Probably you 'droped 1/2' tuning you speak of.

Jim Brewer's impression is dead on. All their songs sound the same, and the singing is horrible.

Appetite for Destruction was an amazing album. It was all downhill from there. You could be mine and Don't cry were good, but November Rain and Civil War were overrated.
