I'd jump aboard in a heart beat. Same with Google Fiber if it ever makes it out of Kansas.

I can't wait to dump the scum companies that I've ever had the horror of dealing with. At this point, I'd even pay more for the same service just to spite them.

That would be awesome. If their coverage is good, I'd drop Verizon in a heartbeat.

I'd drop any US carrier in a second and would love a Google service. I get that they track what I search, where I go etc... but honestly... I don't care.

It is actually typically a benefit to me. I love what they can even do now by providing me relevant ads and info. I am happy that I no longer get ads for tampons... last I checked I don't need those.

I'd rather Google officially partner with T-Mobile to create an MVNO. Making special Google phone's for Dish's spectrum doesn't really help anyone.

I prefer the name T-morola.

Motorola will make the nexus phones and sell through tmobile (since google obviously can't handle e-commerce)

I wonder what good will come out of this. If they are aiming for an initially crappy coverage but insanely cheap price, the first loser is tmobile and I actually like them.

the mobile companies, with their ridiculous pricing, are holding back the mobile industry. by now we should all be doing more or less unlimited web browsing on any device we want. im not surprised google is looking into this. i wouldnt be surprised if amazon did the same type of thing

While I'd reserve final judgment to when/if Google actually moves forward with this, I'd say I'm cautiously optimistic. I'd love to see a major player coming along forcing VZW and AT&T to knock off some of the stupid crap they've been pulling, like data caps, AT&T's war on FaceTime, etc.

We'll see what the coverage looks like. You also have to wonder how compatible this will be with existing handsets (for roaming, etc). Spectrum is important, but it isn't the only thing needed for a wireless network. You also need the infrastructure and the towers. I imagine this will be a very very cheap, (maybe even free, knowing them) wireless plan with a very limited geographic footprint, possibly mated with some MVNO for roaming when necessary.

While interesting I would think it will be years before a nationwide network of any significant coverage could be built.

I would be more interested if Google purchased any existing carrier.

Google isn't interested in being a mobile carrier. They're not interested in being an ISP either.

They are interested in kicking asses into moving forward. Whether its advancing the expansion of broadband or promoting the usage of smart devices, Goggle is going to make the choices that promote their service and increase their revenue from user information.

The best I would expect from this is a tablet that accesses dish networks services.

I would expect Verizon and AT&T, if not TMO and Sprint, to drop billions in lobbying dollars to stop Google Wireless.
