Blood of the cat that made the mess...all of its blood.

(The smell will still be there but you will be happier and the world better off.)

Get her to clean up the cat piss or resolve the couch issue, THEN tell her you want the cat(s) out.

Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover. You should be able to find this at any pet shop. It is pricey but a coworker swears by this stuff.

Did the cat piss on a cushion? You could try contacting the place you bought the couch from and see if you can buy a replacement.

First off, kill the cat.

2nd, get a girlfriend who hates cats

3rd. roffle and enjoy your new girlfriend with her catless house and stink free couch.

From the experts (10 cats currently) if possible use a carpet/upholstery shampooer to do the initial cleaning. Folllow up with a liberal soaking of Simple Solution/Nature's Miracle type product followed up by another good cleaning with the shampooer.

Haha. Sucks. ONe of my cats pissed in my brand new Nike Shox that I had worn once. Had to throw them out.

I'd rather have a house that doesn't smell like cat piss than a girlfriend with cats that are into watersports.

In my experience, I've found that the reason cats piss or crap elsewhere is because their litterbox needs to be changed.

Or it can be an unneutered male cat doing territorial marking or a cat with a urinary tract infection.

These are true too. Just not part of my experience ;)

It has a damn $300 catgenie crazy auto-litterbox. It was clean.

I took the couch outside and cleaned it using a hose. It was only the reclining foot part that got hit, so it was a relatively 'thin' part of the couch that dried completely in 3-4 hours.

There is a hint of smell left, but the carpet cleaning guy was able to get all of the piss out.

We'll see.

All I ever hear about those automatic litterboxes is that cats get scared of them :p

It actually works really really well. I put it in the guest bathroom and shut the door for the first 3-4 days.. they got really really curious and would stand outside the door with a major WTF look on their face, then go in and examine everything when it was done. After 3-4 days I left the door open and they just watched in awe. Now one of them ignores it, and the other goes and sits on the toilet and watches it go..

Well worth it. Couple of downsides: the solution is REQUIRED for the thing to run, and it stops working after 60 cycles (1 month, and it works like those f-ing canon ink cartridges where there is sometimes solution left, but the 'chip says it's empty). There seems to be more of the 'fake litter' around the house.. I think it gets stuck in their paws. Also, the toilet is always dirty. (it discharges the kitty poop+sanitizing solution+water into the toilet)

But.. that's better than a NASTY litter box. When you walk in the house you still get the pleasant cat-that-eats-wet-cat-food stench, but I just start the litter box and it takes care of it.

The worst is when you think you have it all gone and can't smell anything... then a humid day comes. UGH! I abhor cat pee!
