Russkies shot down two of them actually, both were Korean Airlines. I have some links a page or so back.
I know of two (007 in 1983 and another one in 1978), and both were in their airspace, flying over some very secret places. Many books and articles have been written arguing whether those were deliberate provocations, or even surveillance/spy missions, or innocent victims or circumstances and cruel Soviet military. Some say that the official investigation was a cover-up, and who knows when we'll learn the truth.
That aside, I am unaware of the Russians shooting down an airplane in international airspace.
