Not much to say. Some guy goes crazy, starts shooting randos. Kills 6 and hiself.
This is our first mass shooting in 11 years. I know it won't impress much but it's all we got.
Not implying that our gun laws are what's preventing them. Pure coincidence that people who do not own guns cannot go on gun shooting sprees.

Rabid gun owner: "So what? Get used to it. It's no big deal unless a flamethrower and a minigun was deployed and/or multiple RPG rounds were fired and many "good law abiding gun owners that were responding in kind were killed." Because you know, *GOLM (Gun Owners Lives Matter).

F'n incels....wtf

Plymouth killer Jake Davison: What is an 'incel' and blackpill meaning? | The National

Plymouth gunman described being ‘defeated by life’ before massacre (kentonline.co.uk)

As far as the legal gun owner question:

"Police confirmed he was a licenced firearm holder but it is not yet known whether that gun was used in the shooting"

There are reports from witnesses saying it was a pump action shotgun, nothing official, not sure if it matters but some people want to know.
It's very important to gun nuts to have the exact gun details.

Plymouth, Mass? Plymouth, New Hampshire?

Nope—England. Ok then.

From the article:
Meanwhile, home secretary Priti Patel announced that the gunman’s online activity are being looked into after news broke that he had discussed the misogynistic “incel” movement online and had “liked” a series of videos about guns on social media.

It has been revealed that he had a firearms licence and used a pump-action shotgun in the shooting spree, which police said was not terror-related.
So…legal gun owner, check.

Radicalized by [American?] gun culture & incel culture online, check

But not considered terrorism…interesting.

Stochastic terror is real, folks

If it's in the UK, there are no legal gun owners.
It's not that hard to get a shotgun license in the UK. Everybody and their mums is packing round here.

There are reports from witnesses saying it was a pump action shotgun, nothing official, not sure if it matters but some people want to know.
Those (afaik) are not legal to own in the UK without a special license which is hard to get.

learning from America I see. This would barely crack the local news here, let alone national news.

So have most western countries. Its quite a bit different than whats going on in the US.
Oh yeah, no debating that the USA has a unique and intense relationship with firearms. I just wanted to point out that firearms are in no way banned or that uncommon in the UK. We just don't have a fetish for them.

guys, it's quite simple, practically every country uses the same system for firearms permits.

1. you ask for a permit
2. they ask you "why do you need this"
3. based on your answer, you do or you don't get a permit.

This ain't fucking rocket science. The difference here is that a lot of "reasons" for owning a gun are turned down... in a sensible manner.

Are you a security guard for a bank, or a jeweller who routinely walks home with 50 grand worth of gold? You get your license. You can even get a concealed carry.
Are you just-some-guy with an irrational fear of breakins? You don't get a gun.

Farmer who hunts for boars? Shotgun license.
Athlete who trains for shooting competitions? Single-shot .22LR license.

We got licenses coming out of our ears. We got licenses for everything.

The typical American argument "i need to defend myself" doesn't fly here. We go low violent crime. We got reeeally low gun crime. We got police everywhere. You don't need a gun, and that's why you don't get one.

..just .. stop trying to make an argument like it's totally normal for housewives to have guns. It's stupid.
Yeah ok we get it, it's in your constitution, and good on you, have your guns. But don't try to argue that because it's in YOUR constitution, it's really the bestest idea in teh world and everyone saying you get more gun deaths that way is lying. If you had PUNCHING BABIES IN THE HEAD in your constitution, it wouldn't be a lie if everyone else told you that you got too many cases of infant trauma directly related to your baby-punching laws.

You have unsuccessfully conflated an act of aggression with a protected right.
In the US you don't need any "excuse" to own firearms. It's a right that the government is required to protect.

omfg YES WE GET IT. It's a right. TO YOU. To you, one of two countries in the entire world that has a constitutional right to firearms. This does not make it a good idea. Saudi Arabia has a right to beat wives, it's still not a good idea, but it's a legal right.

It's working out great. Also the right has perverted the 2nd amendment. But we know you are ok with that.

Why so upset about it? You don't have to deal with the issues involved.
There are two solutions to the problem, neither of which will be implemented in the foreseeable future. I suppose venting about it helps, but it won't change anything.

Hey now, we take our baby punching seriously. Aim for the stomach, that way they don't grow up brain damaged so they're a fair target when we need to have a shoot-out as adults.
