Today I tried repairing the handle on my plastic bath brush that had snapped in half using super glue. As luck would have it the two pieces slipped while I was applying pressure and I managed to get some of the glue on my thumb. I didn't have any nail polish remover handy so I tried fast orange with the abrasives which didn't do anything. Then after looking about I saw that several people recommend salt as a natural remover. With this in mind I grabbed a container of Morton salt and proceeded to the sink. I ran a small amount of water into the basin so I could dampen my thumb and then proceeded to apply the salt in small quantities and rub. After about 30 seconds of rubbing the salt had completely removed the super glue from my skin so it does work so next time you get some on you grab some salt to get it off.:D

Or you could be a real man and use acetone.

It'll melt your sissy gloves too.

Available in the cosmetics section of any drug store. Personally, I prefer the large jar and sponge applicators, but pouring it straight out of a bottle onto a shop towel works too.

Why would you want to do that... now you won't leave fingerprints.

Could have but I like my fingers.

Just what I was using but since Walmart has raised their prices I'll be dropping back to great value when it's all used up. Regular Morton salt is now $.84 versus $.54 when I bought that container. Great value is $.40 for regular or iodized all day long. I use the salt in my nasal rinses and it works quite well for keeping my Eustachian tubes clear.

I don't use super glue. I've never had any luck getting it to hold anything together. I use two part epoxy, or some other kind of fix.

When I was a kid, I liked smearing white glue on my hands, letting it dry, then peeling it off. Very satisfying.

The only two part bonding agent I have is jb weld and it doesn't work on plastic. I'm too cheap to buy a new bath brush so I just wanted to bond the lanyard end back on to hang it up on the shower.

Yeah this type of stuff is always fun. The salt probably has a higher mineral hardness than the glue and so it erodes it away through abrasion.

Other methods probably involve your more standard solvents that make the glue soluble so you can rinse it away..

Fast orange has abrasives yet I couldn't get the glue off after several minutes of trying even using a firm plastic brush. The salt was practically instantaneous and yes it was quite abrasive but after a few seconds all of the glue had dissolved from my thumb.

I got "great stuff" all over my hands once. The only recourse is to try to get the worse of it off, then for the rest you just wait till your skin cells die off and it will fall with it. That was not fun. Basically a can exploded in my hands. They really are meant to be used all in one shot, and not a couple sprays then stored. That was my mistake.

As a side note, if you get acoustic sealant on you or other surface, rubbing alcohol works great to clean it.

1. Is it even possible to use superglue without getting it on yourself?

2. Is it even possible to get a second use from a tube of superglue?

OP said he didn't have any nail polish remover (AKA "acetone").

1. you store it upright in the freezer.

2. you make sure the tip is wiped clean before screwing the cap on.
