I had to whip up a Ken Burns-style slideshow video for work and I didn't have my Mac handy to do it in iMovie. Fortunately, I found out that Google's free Picasa photo album software has a movie maker built-in:

It's very basic and only supports a single audio track. All I did was select a folder to make a movie out of, change the slide speed to 3 seconds, add a WMA (also supports MP3), and give it a title. There are several transition effects:
* Cut
* Pan and Zoom (this one is like the Ken Burns effect)
* Dissolve
* Dissolve through black
* Dissolve through white
* Wipe
* Circle
* Push
* Pan and Zoom - face
* Time Lapse
You can also select an option for full-screen photos so you don't get black bars on the sides ("full frame photo crop"). In addition, the latest version of Picasa (3.9) now offers even more photo editing options - crop, rotate, basic highlight/contrast stuff, and some basic filters. So you can clean up the images right in Picasa and then pop them out into a movie file all within the same program, no need to hit up Photoshop for basic individual edits.
Handy tool to have in a pinch :thumbsup:
