FYI (not PSA): Rush is cool

Almost every song on their "Greatest Hits" album is great!
Real staying power, you know?

Tom Sawyer

A modern-day warrior
Mean mean stride,
Todays tom sawyer
Mean mean pride.

Though his mind is not for rent,
Dont put him down as arrogant.
His reserve, a quiet defense,
Riding out the days events.
The river

And what you say about his company
Is what you say about society.
Catch the mist, catch the myth
Catch the mystery, catch the drift.

The world is, the world is,
Love and life are deep,
Maybe as his eyes are wide.

Todays tom sawyer,
He gets high on you,
And the space he invades
He gets by on you.

No, his mind is not for rent
To any God or government.
Always hopeful, yet discontent,
He knows changes arent permanent,
But change is.

And what you say about his company
Is what you say about society.
Catch the witness, catch the wit,
Catch the spirit, catch the spit.

The world is, the world is,
Love and life are deep,
Maybe as his skies are wide.

Exit the warrior,
Todays tom sawyer,
He gets high on you,
And the energy you trade,
He gets right on to the friction of the day.

I read the thread title and the first thing that went through my mind was: P&N... post this in P&N... My preciousssssss......... 😀

Rush?
Great band?
or the Greatest Band?

Begin the day with a friendly voice,
A companion, unobtrusive
Plays the song that's so elusive
And the magic music makes your morning mood.

Off on your way, hit the open road,
There is magic at your fingers
For the Spirit ever lingers,
Undemanding contact in your happy solitude.

Invisible airwaves crackle with life
Bright antenna bristle with the energy
Emotional feedback on a timeless wavelength
Bearing a gift beyond price, almost free

All this machinery making modern music
Can still be open-hearted.
Not so coldly charted, it's really just a question
Of your honesty, yeah, your honesty.

One likes to believe in the freedom of music,
But glittering prizes and endless compromises
Shatter the illusion of integrity.

Invisible airwaves crackle with life
Bright antenna bristle with the energy
Emotional feedback on a timeless wavelength
Bearing a gift beyond price, almost free

For the words of the profits were written on the studio wall,
Concert hall
And echoes with the sounds of salesmen.
Of salesmen.
Of salesmen.

Rush rocks! I recently discovered them on an oldies station.

Today's music is crap. Anyone think older music is much more better?

Ever since I heard Tom Sawyer a year ago it's always been stuck in my head. It's just awesome. It was played it on Family Guy last night too 😛

What other Rush songs might I like? Tom Sawyer is the only one I got.

Fly by Night
Freewill
Limelight
New World Man
Red Barchetta
Subdivisions
The Spirit of Radio
The Trees

Just buy the greatest hits album, all of them are good.

Red Barchetta is at the top of my list. Inspired by an MGB story.

"Geddy Lee!"
The enthused youth yelled as he jumped upon the concert seat and gave the double 'I love you' handsign.

Rush is a great band, but they certainly ain't "cool"! They sing nerdy songs about nerdy topics sung by an androgenous man with a weird voice.

But I still listen to them.

I love Rush, but I don't much like anything they've done after Moving Pictures. And I don't think Moving Pictures was nearly as good as their previous stuff.

Rush is the greatest. Alex and Geddy are also underrated. I have to say I enjoy almost everything they've ever done. My least favorite is the first one.
