I downloaded the trial version, and there are some nice changes in version 2010. For the record, I used Kaspersky in 2007 and 2008, and switched to Norton in 2009 as I had some issues with Kaspersky's 2009 version.

1. Much better user interface.

2. Improved memory performance and a much lighter load (not for sure yet but seems to be between 32k and 45k).

3. They incorporated Secunia into their product to scan for software vulnerabilities. **Upon further review, it does not look like Secunia is included.** It appears the have their own vulneribility scanner, it will link to Secunia's site and to Viruslist.com. Sorry for the confusion.

4. Sandbox and Virtual Keyboard options.

Thanks for the heads-up  I'll have to give it a whirl at work since we have a Kaspersky 2009 installation there.

I got the 2009 for free after rebate. I wonder if I can upgrade during my license period.

Yep. So far, so good.

Just to clarify, my Norton subscription ends in a few weeks, so I put Kaspersky 2010 on my desktop, and I am still running Norton on my laptop.........for the meantime.

From what I understand, you install the 2010 trial version over 2009 and it uses your old license number. You might want to clarify that over at the Kaspersky forums.

AFAIK, it has worked in the past for previous versions.

Let us know how it goes KIS 2K10 users!

Answer

The short answer is no, not really, and not reliably.

Just installed and tried it out briefly, and here are a few 1st impressions:

no issues with the install and updating.

it seems very fast to load/open. i'll have to check memory usage.

interface is pretty nice!

One thing I loved the most is that the scan times after the initial scan are VERY fast. i did a full scan on my test pc and it took around 10 mins, and then the next time it was less than 1 minute!!!! awesome!

more to come as I get to mess with it some more....

That sucks big time! There really needs to be a true 64 bit supported sandbox. As we all know the program sandboxie will never have that unless your on a unpatched Windows XP 64 bit. Though who runs Windows XP 64 bit? Not many people sense it is not well supported.
