Expect to speak with the shadiest group of people.

One guy in particular:
Didn't show up at a neutral place to see the car
Said he'd buy the car for $xxxx, but 2 hours later said he doesn't want it anymore
A week later he calls and wants it for $xxxx
Doesn't show up at neutral place to buy car, again

The rest of the people are just as flaky and I have yet to hear from one person who can speak or understand english past a first grader's ability.

Personally I don't care so much since it's not my car and I have no rush to sell it, but it's apparent that the clientele blows

Sucks. I'm contemplating selling my car, but at most its worth $1K. I'm really considering just seeing what Carmax will give me, but it'd be nice to get $500.

Of low socioeconomic standing does not equate to shady. I think the word you are looking for is unreliable. For some of the people showing up to buy the car, I bet it is a major financial decision Price is a driving factor. They probably don't have the stability and financial resources to be "not shady."

That said, it is a good thing you are not desperate to sell the car either. Expect more of the same.

Based on the callers looking at the car, I'd say they'll drop 5 times what they pay on putting a new steros system and shiny rims on the car. The major financial decision isn't how much to pay for this car. It's how much the neons, sub enclosure and spinners are gonna cost them.

if they're so unsure, why the hell do they schedule meeting times to which they do not show up

I've sold four cars under $1000. One person never got the car registered in her name so I ended up having to pay for a year's registration on it when I tried to register a different car. One kid didn't understand the insurance thing and stopped by my house a month after I sold it to him (in the DMV office, everything finalized to perfection) wanting to know if my insurance might still cover the car. I didn't even ask to find out what happened, just explained to him that it was his responsibility, not a word that agreed with him too well. The other two sales were no problem.

Well that won't be a problem for me. I intend to drive this car so long that I will have to pay to have it crushed. 😛
