I had a case where a security guard got stuck in an elevator afterhours. He climbed out of the car and was standing on the roof when either the elevator moved or he tried to jump to the next elevator.

He survived the fall, but his junk was impaled and rendered useless.

(BTW, he lost at trial because the jury blamed him for climbing out of the car and believed that he tried to jump to the other car.)

I bet it was the type of elevator that works like a car lift as opposed to a normal elevator with a lift station on top. These are often put in buildings that are shorter to. save costs.
But if they have heavy usage, they break...a lot.

I was in an 4 story office building that had this. There was an elevator repair guy there twice a week.
