<< The vast numbers of new Gentoo Linux users have started to overwhelm our
main rsync server -- earlier today we had 59 syncs running
simultaneously! To help alleviate this problem, we've set up a DNS
round-robin system so that rsync load is distributed over our
much-appreciated rsync mirrors. To take advantage of our rsync mirrors,
add the following line to your /etc/make.conf:
SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage"
If you have trouble running emerge rsync you might want to change this setting in the /etc/make.conf
