For those of you holding a Chase Freedom, I just got wind of this deal. (And to those that don't browse SD's, you should... :p) Chase is offering 10% cash back for the holiday shopping season (Nov 23-Dec 31) at select online retailers (including Amazon - SCORE!). The $1,500 cash back limit does reset according to the FAQ. Activate your card here. I guess I'll be putting my shopping off a littttttle bit longer. :D

If this should belong in Hot Deals... please move. I know most of the CC % discussion happens here though.

Good for those that do not have prime yet as well.

i don't have a chase freedom card, but you just reminded me that i need to sign up for another south west card to get the free 50k pooints, and sign up my wife for it. i signed up for the chase sapphire and got the 40k points a couple weeks ago, so next up on my list was the southwest card.

I see 50k points online now.
https://www.chase.com/online/sapphire/sapphire.html

Can those be transferred to another Chase account, or used as statement credit?
Or are they just travel points?
I am reading through now...

Edit: I found an article that says the points are standard Ultimate Rewards points, so can be exchanged for credit or gift cards as normal... but they can be worth much more 1.25-1.5x more if used on travel.

i dont know if they can be transferred, i think they can though.

but what i'm going to do is sign up for 2 (possibly 3) southwest cards. the business and premiere give you 50k points, and the plus gives you 25k points (if you spend $2k within 2 months on each one). then come january of next year i'm going to start spending on them to earn 2k on each card, and earn 125k points.

if you earn 110k points in 1 calendar year, you get the companion pass for that year AND the following year.

so basically i'll have 125k points to use on southwest + my wife will be able to fly with me for free wherever we want to go. but i plan on having the cards prior to jan 1st so i can get the points on each card all in the same year, and as early as possible.

It doesn't start until 11/23. If you can wait that long, cancel the order and reorder next week.

Slickdeals is starting to be filled with too much shit. Basically, advertisers are paying the admin money to put up supposed "deals" on the frontpage and such. It's getting sad and pathetic, and I haven't bought anything there as of recent.

Fatwallet seems to have less of the bullshit overall.

As far as this deal goes.... I already have 10% off Amazon sadly. I have the Discover IT double cash-back promo, and Amazon is in their 5% list... Soo... yeah =[

Unlike you, I work for a highly regarded military contractor who has strict restrictions on interwebz and cell phone use. I no can watch youtubez right now.

Lemme guess, it's a cat video? I know you're into cats.

Don't act important. I KNOW WHERE YOU WORK.

Welp, because I have prime, the order has been processed and I'm guessing is getting shipped out in a few hours.

I've cancelled prime orders last minute without issues. Wouldn't hurt to give them a call.

I agree it's not as great as it used to be, but I still hop on every morning to see what's out there. Our 'Hot Deals' section here has certainly taken a plunge... so I need an alternative. I find SD's layout easier to browse then FW. If I actually find something I want to buy, I'll go through FW for the cashback because you just can't beat that.

Hahaha. Pshhhhh you can't do shiz, you're basically a t3rr0r!st as far as this place is concerned.

Huh, interesting. Well, one of the items was out of stock for a long time and they finally just got more. I'm worried if I cancel the order, when I go back to reorder, it'll be gone again.

I don't wanna be that jewish ya know.... Making a big deal over like 20 bones. Sorry all jewish people if that offends you.

Thanks for the heads up. But in our case I don't think I'll be spending more than $500 this holiday season especially from those specific stores, so the difference between our 2% year-round card and the 10% card would be $40, if that. Not willing to sign up for another card just for this.

I started signing up for rewards cards about a year ago to take advantage of the bonus offers, and now my utilization is so low that my credit rating has sky rocketed. I wonder if the CC companies will ever pull back bonus offers to people with super high credit ratings. I have to imagine those customers are not very profitable.

Looks like there's also a $150 sign up bonus as well ($500 purchases in the first 3 months) if that makes any difference.

Getting cashback isn't as straight forward anymore either - There are tons of sites that do cashback portals - including banks of your credit cards. Overall fatwallet is at the 'meh' level as far as cashback is concerned, but I'm too lazy to try to find the best, and it's dumb to hold cashback in multiple accounts.

Overall What I LOVE is doubling/tripling up on stuff.

Example:
5% Cashback from a credit card category
$10 off $50 - Example of AMEX offers, few others do this as well like Bank of America, though not as good
~3% or whatever through cashback portal.

Has anyone got a confirmation that their card was activated for the 10%? I know for the regular calendar 5% back, you get an email right away telling you your 5% was activated. I did the 10% last night and haven't gotten anything yet...

This is a really good situation if you don't have Freedom or Sapphire yet. Get Sapphire for 50k points, second card for 5k points on first use, Freedom for $150 bonus, then transfer your Freedom points to Sapphire and use them for travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards (for a 20% discount on point utilization).

55,000 points ($550 cash value or $687.50 in travel) plus $150 cashback plus whatever you earn via 10% back, all for ~10min of time.
